Cleaning a school isn't one job — it's two, run on opposite schedules. There's the term-time routine, done every night around a full building of students, and there's the summer reset, done all at once while the building is empty. They call for different work, different scheduling, and different planning, and a vendor who's good at one isn't automatically good at the other. Term-time: daily maintenance around a full building

Why summer is the whole ballgame for floors

Hard floors and gym floors are the clearest reason the summer window matters so much. Stripping and re-waxing VCT and refinishing a gym floor both need the building empty and time for the finish to cure — you cannot do it around students. Miss or rush the summer floor work and there's no second chance until next year; the floors just wear for twelve more months. A school's floor program lives or dies in the summer, which is why a good vendor plans it early and protects the window.

The two seasons have to be planned together, on a July–June fiscal year.
